BUAS operates in a multicultural environment providing the labour market with professionals in life science-related domains. The vision of BUAS as multidisciplinary academic institution in the fields of education and scientific research relays on: continuous development of knowledge in life sciences, transmitting the knowledge legacy to the future generations, high quality and efficient professional education and capitalization of scientific achievements in the field of life sciences.

a consistent contribution to the national and international economic development, strengthen the generated professional competencies, extend the scientific knowledge in life sciences, develop into a source and a resource for the wider society development. The second strategic objective in scientific research assumed by BUAS targets precisely the stimulation of innovation and the transfer of scientific outputs and outcomes to the economy proving dynamics and flexibility of contribution to current and perspective problem-solving in environment, economy and society at large.

The structure of the university comprises six faculties – Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Animal Sciences and Biotechnologies, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Horticulture and Forestry, Faculty of Farm Management and Faculty of Food Processing.

BUAS trains professionals in 13 fields (agronomy, animal husbandry, biology, biotechnologies, engineering and management in agriculture, engineering and management in food services and agro-tourism, environmental engineering, forestry, geodesy, horticulture, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, and veterinary medicine).
